Hi!

How are you?

I’m Ashli Hughes

I got my start in marketing when I was living in Austin, TX, back in 2005. I had a radio show on KOOP 91.7FM, and soon after, started working as a grassroots marketer for record labels. I was a street team promoter for Beggar's Group: 4AD, Rough Trade, Matador, XL Recordings, and more. I loved it! As part of that work, I also created social media campaigns for the Syndicate in New Jersey and promoted musicians and comedians. It was a ton of fun, and that momentum took me to Los Angeles in 2007, where I worked my way up as the website/social media manager for the Fonda Theater in Hollywood, CA. I loved running the social media for the venue, creating newsletters, and getting the word out. Connecting people to the music and the experience was what I lived for.

However, after a few years in Los Angeles, it was time to migrate up to the Pacific NW. Once I got there in 2010, I started taking graphic/web design classes to perfect my skills and eventually took a job with a local restaurant chain as the Marketing Coordinator. It was a great learning experience, and by 2015, I was ready to venture into freelance marketing. I started Cascade Creative PDX and began a new, exciting chapter being my own boss and working on my small business dream.

In December 2017, I relocated back to Austin, TX, and rebranded Cascade Creative to Flight Path Creative. I’ve had the pleasure of working with some great local businesses and non-profits like Succulent Native, the Red River Cultural District, KOOP 91.7FM, and Juice Real Estate. These days, you’ll find me working as the Marketing Coordinator for the Austin Humane Society and helping the occasional small business owner with their marketing needs.

Social Media

I’m a social media OG. I got started in social media back in 2007 when I was posting for the Fonda Theater on Myspace. Facebook was barely a thing. I’ve seen all the changes over the years and have a good grasp on the platforms, but every day is a new surprise.

Here are some of posts that were either high performers or content that I’m proud of.

Graphic Design

There is nothing I enjoy more than sitting down with a piping hot cuppa coffee and working on a design project. From start to finish, I love creating on-brand, eye-catching visuals for print and digital collateral.

Last December, Succulent Native planned to host a holiday market to increase foot traffic during the gift-giving season. The campaign started by recruiting local artists and crafters to sign up, then advertising them, the market, and includes other holiday messaging around events, workshops, and store hours.

In the fall, Succulent Native announced they were bringing back their Plant Love Club, where customers can subscribe to receive discounts and monthly perks. The owner wanted something girlie that tapped into all the Austin vibes. I found some cowgirl graphics on Creative Market, recolored them to match the shop's branding, and worked closely with the owner and shop manager to carve out the messaging.
